INAPEF Annual Conference

The INAPEF Annual Conference is geared towards directors and board members of public education foundations throughout the state, or any superintendents or community members interested in starting an education foundation. 

At this event you will connect with fellow education foundation peers from around the state, learn from veteran leaders, and share your experience with those new to the field. Members and non-members are welcome to join us to learn more about how to inspire new and existing donors, discover new grant and fundraising opportunities, and build capacity within your organization.

Wednesday, November 6

 12:00 - 12:15 PM: Welcome & Announcements
 12:15 - 1:15 PM: Keynote: Leveraging Contributions Made to Education Foundations: Gain insights into developing a sense of urgency among donors by addressing critical questions: Why change? Why us? Why now? We will dive into strategies for identifying and telling compelling stories that resonate with the community, driving engagement and support. Additionally, the session will cover the importance of creating transparency across the organization to align strengths and address areas of improvement.

1:15 PM - 1:45: Safeguarding Your Foundation's Finances: Understanding Internal Controls, Segregation of Duties, and Assurance Services

In this session staff and board members will learn to define internal controls in accounting and gain a basic understanding of how internal controls specifically apply to accounting processes and financial reporting. We will discuss the importance of segregation of duties in accounting and learn why segregating accounting-related tasks is crucial in preventing errors, fraud, and unauthorized access to funds. Participants will gain an understanding of the levels of assurance services offered by CPA firms and learn about the various levels of assurance services offered by CPA firms (audit, review, and compilation) and the benefits and limitations of each.

 1:45 - 3:15 PM: Fundraising Essentials for Board Members: In this session, we will uncover successful ways to engage board members in the four-part fundraising process, and techniques for directors to help train your own board in the process.

 3:30 - 5:00 PM: Utilizing AI to Grow Capacity - Peer Led Panel & Roundtables: Join us for an interactive AI panel and roundtable discussions at the INAPEF conference, where your AI experienced peers will dive into the latest trends and innovations in AI. This session encourages active participation—challenge sheets will be provided at your table to spark conversation. Come prepared with a free version of ChatGPT or Gemini, along with your ideas, examples, and questions to collaborate with peers and panelists on real-world AI challenges and solutions.
