campaign launch. (See below)
$500,000 gift to aid Foundation of Monroe County Community Schools
A $500,000 anonymous donation to support literacy was already in place when the Foundation
of Monroe County Community Schools kicked off a $3 million campaign to support local schools
in April. The foundation's "Campaign for Our Children, Our Schools and Our Future" will focus
upon programming in three areas affected by $5.8 million in cuts the MCCSC has authorized in
the wake of state funding shortfalls: 1) Keeping kids in school. 2) Literacy and 3) Library
materials and supplies.
